Staircase Of great interest are the newell stair posts for they contain small, individual carvings of the Howell family, who ere the original inhabitants of the house. The woodwork is all carved in massive design. Carpets have been carefully placed so they will not obscure the rich parquet design floor borders of walnut, mahogany, and oak. On all the doors bronze hardware is to be found.
