    My gratitude must first be given to Suzy Purdy who opened doors for me to be the PICTURE LADY in all elementary schools and with whom I have worked and shared. I owe much to the Atchison Art Association, who sponsored the program, and to the Muchnic Gallery for exhibiting the work of the children. My thanks go also to my colleagues, Sister Paula Howard, O.S.B., who made this book possible by giving invaluable time and effort with the computer work and much more; to Sister Noreen Hurter, O.S.B. who is responsible for the original copy work of both the color and the black and white pages; to Sister Caroline Bryan, O.S.B., for her computer work on the format of the book; and to Sister Mary Paul Ege, O.S.B. for her untiring advice and critique.

    I owe much to Don and Pat Williams for the computer work they did enabling me to do the page layouts and to Gloria Davis for her extensive research. My gratitude to Kristin Haug who gave summer mornings to do needed research and art work and to Judy Green for her art work. A very special "'thank you" to Margaret White, Joel Haug, John Marrin, Meghan McGuire, Courtney Campbell, Anisa Bassi, and Nicholas Boos for their special help, and for the generous help of Erin McKelvy, and to the many children whose art works are reproduced in this book. Thanks also to Suzy Purdy and Barb Edwards, elementary educators and art teachers, who helped with the selection of the children's artwork.
